Melissa, Founder and Principal Designer, is a California Bay Area Native, and an expert in creating gorgeous spaces. The award-winning designer has worked in all facets of luxury residential design from small condominiums to grand residences.
With a broad range of experience in traditional design as well as contemporary, she strives to create unique, comfortable, and functional interiors that fits the needs of her clients’ diverse lifestyles.
Her philosophy is great communication and collaboration between designer and client will result in exceptional design.
About Melissa
From a young age Melissa knew that she had a passion for interior design. As a child she would constantly rearrange the furniture in her and her little sister’s bedrooms, until one day her sister said, “no more”. Melissa went to school in Saratoga, California and received a FIDER Accredited Advanced Interior Design Certificate from West Valley College.
Her very first position was with a high end residential Interior Design firm in Los Altos that specialized in custom cabinetry and kitchen & bath design. She spent 6 years learning the trade, refining her skills, and advancing within the company.
After a year off for maternity leave, and 6 years as the Senior Designer at a luxury kitchen & bath interior design firm in downtown Menlo Park, Melissa hung her shingle and started her own practice Melissa Nierman Designs.
Melissa is always looking for new challenges and opportunities to grow and she continues to bring great design home to her clients.
